FCO staff
Head of the governor’s office
Sian Evans arrived in the BVI in August 2009. She is responsible for the management and smooth running of the FCO side of the governor’s office. Her policy responsibilities include, national security, law & order, financial services, air and port safety & security.
Staff officer
Emma Dean has been the governor’s staff officer since July 2008. Her responsibilities include HM prison, disaster management, the environment, UK honours, overall management of the office, estate and project funding.
Emma was previously posted to the British Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Executive assistant
Joan Johnson started work in the governor’s office in March 2009. She is the FCO accountant, assistant management officer, provides liaison to visiting Royal Navy Ships and also technical support to the other FCO staff.
Joan’s previous foreign office posting was to the British Embassy in Bucharest, Romania.
Claire Hunter has been locally employed by the FCO since November 2006, having previously been the governor’s PA from 2001-2005. She is responsible for consular protection work for visiting and imprisoned UK nationals, evaluations for new and existing Overseas Territory Environmental Programmes (OTEP) and the Overseas Territories Project Fund (OTPF). She also leads on Chevening Scholarship applications and requests for Service of Process and Legal Assistance from foreign countries. Claire is also the first port-of-call for all visa, passport and consular enquiries from british visitors and residents in the BVI.
Claire’s previous Foreign Office posting was as personal assistant to the legal adviser to the UK Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York.
Estate manager
Clare Murray joined the team in April 2009. Clare is locally employed by the FCO as estate manager with responsibility for overseeing the programme of maintenance and refurbishment of the governor's office estate.
BVIG staff
Private secretary
Natalie Fahie-Smith serves as private secretary to the Governor. She is responsible for the management and smooth running of the BVI Government side of the governor's office. Her responsibilities include organisation and supervision of staff, research, preparation of the annual budget estimates, implementation of initiatives, liaison with key ministries, departments and committees and support to the governor on various issues. She also serves as accounting Officer for the BVI Government side of the governor's office which includes oversight and management of the governor's office, residence and old government house museum's budget allocation. She has held this position since March 2007.
Senior administrative officer
Cherryl Fahie serves as the senior administrative officer for the BVI Government side of the governor's office. Her duties include human resource matters, operation of the emergency radio, function planning and organization of the governor's residence. She has been assigned to this office since February 1999.
Administrative officer (personal assistant)
Rose Adams serves as the governor’s personal assistant. Her responsibilities include the management of the governor's diary and records management. She has held this position since January 2006.
Accounts officer/receptionist
Pearlette Cupid serves as the governor’s office receptionist and performs the duties of accounts officer and records management officer for the BVI Government side of the governor's office. She has held this position since December 1996.
Governor's orderly
Sgt Israel Sergeant is employed by the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force and has been assigned as the governor’s orderly since December 2005. He also serves as the governor's security officer.
