HM Governor

Governor David Pearey

His Excellency the Governor, Mr David Pearey

David Pearey was a diplomat with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London, with a career spanning 26 years, before he arrived in Tortola in April 2006 to take up the duties of Governor in the British Virgin Islands.

During his career he has served as High Commissioner in Malawi, Deputy High Commissioner in Pakistan and Uganda, and has held other overseas posts in Nigeria and Pakistan.

He says of his career that "it has taken me to places that are not at the top of most people's list of holiday destinations but I have benefited enormously from the variety of human experiences I have encountered.  The British Virgin Islands is perhaps the exception, but I expect this to be as rewarding as all my other diplomatic appointments"

Of his present job David Pearey says that: "I see my role as working with the local government to promote good governance in the BVI, improve the security of the Territory, and help implement the elected government's agenda through a reformed and more efficient public service."

Travel has been a lifetime passion with his other interests including reading, music and walking.  He is joined in Tortola by his wife Sue and daughter Poppy.
