Education & Scholarships
Student Fees in England
From the 2007/08 academic year, students from the British Overseas Territories, who meet residence requirements, are treated as ‘home students’ for fee purposes at institutions in England. This means that BVI students are charged the home fee rate for their Further Education and undergraduate degree courses at colleges and universities in England. Students must meet a three-year residence qualification in the British Territory concerned.
The devolved administrations – Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland – have not yet extended home fee status to students.
Further details of this scheme can be found on the UK Department for Children, Schools & Families website.
The Chevening Fellowship
Chevening is the Scholarship and Fellowship Programme funded by the UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). Since the programme was established in 1983, it has provided over 32,000 Scholarships and Fellowships to students around the world allowing them to study at prestigious universities in the UK.
The Chevening Programme is made up of two distinct schemes: the Scholarship scheme and the Fellowship scheme. The Fellowship scheme offers awards for study on 12-week courses that focus on particular subjects aligned to the FCO’s Strategic Framework. Fellowships are aimed at mid-career professionals with several years’ experience, who are in positions of leadership and influence (or in line for such positions), and who are active in the field of
the Fellowship subject. The courses run in the UK from January to April 2010.
Further information, and application forms, can be obtained from the Governor's Office at the address below. An 'Introduction to Chevening Fellowships' [2MB PDF] can be read here.

The awards are made for one year’s formal study for a postgraduate qualification or for a shorter period of not less than three months to pursue private study or research at a university or similar institution in Britain.
Further information is available on the Chevening Programme website.
